What I Love About Sunsets

It matters less what happened before, and what is to happen ahead. It matters the most what is now.

The difficulty lies in reminding our minds of this truth. The feelings of worry and stress and helplessness fade away when we don’t just stop to breathe and just observe our surroundings, but when we truly simplify and take in what is.

The immediacy of this particular moment in time is the essence of our emotions and of our being. Humans gain their sense of self from how they establish their emotions regarding other humans, objects and concrpts, and how they comprehend the world and the individuals within it.

And that’s what I love about sunsets – they’re a bit of nature I get to see even when I live in the city (or the suburbs anyway), and when I’m watching the sun go down from my bedroom window or walking on my way home, I feel a unique peace wash over me.
