I have not always liked the night (and still sometimes scare). But, I have always had an affinity for the moon and growing up, appreciated the night hour for its ability to soothe me, though it sometimes keeps me up when I would otherwise hope.
Last night’s super blood blue moon inspired me greatly (oh, it’s power!!), and I wrote this poem while listening to a hauntingly beautiful piano cover of Moon River, which you can also listen to, as part of my Peaceful Piano Spotify playlist, while reading this post.
The moon and I talk
She understands that to me
She gives comfort
Because she is ethereal
And full of loveThe moon and I talk
Whether white or red
Or shadowed by earth or sun
Or clouded by rain or stormThe moon and I talk
Of things no one else knows
Of reveries inspired by emptiness
Of things in the universe
That have no explanationThe moon and I talk
When all is dark
When no one is around
When everything is quietThe moon and I talk
Keeping the stars company
Breathing in the universe
Staring at everything and nothing
Knowing I’m at homeThe moon and I talk
We tell tales of stardust
We dance across the sky
We get lost in imaginationThe moon and I talk
From when she rides
To when she sets
But I know
She’s not gone yetThe moon and I talk
Of sentimental longings
Of carefree times
And summer days gone byThe moon and I talk
Full of hypnosis and mystery
An air of charm and grace
She feeds my longing
To expand my horizonsThe moon and I talk
And I’m not alone
The stars shimmer
And I’m not scaredThe moon and I talk
Even when she’s not there
She’s behind the wisps
And still she comes back
To me
