Link Loves: Volume I

Recent Posts

For years I’ve saved articles and longreads, and their respective hyperlinks to more articles, books, music, podcasts, galleries, and then shared the most pertinent ones on my social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter). They are in fact a reflection of the thought process behind my creative work, and generally savoured over lunch and coffee, or in bed before reading a book. I love sharing what I find because of the intellectual stimulation, as well as the opportunity to spread the word about something I find interesting for its social commentary, informative aspects, or inspiration. So I’ve decided to collate these link loves in a new weekly series in an effort to keep them all together, share what I’ve found, and provide a bit of background into what inspires my personal creative work. I earn nothing from sharing these. Here goes volume I; I hope you slow down a little, meditate and mull over coffee and tea, and obviously enjoy:

This week, Mary Oliver, one of the most beloved poets of mine, passed away. So here she is giving a rare interview with Krista Tippett from the On Being project (there’s also a shorter version available), some of her most meaningful writing, and Maria Popova of Brain Pickings writing on how reading saved Mary Oliver’s life.

This piece on the fashion industry and where power lives is an incredibly important one, and one that is applicable to much more than just this one industry.

This article on women and painting demonstrates a long history of silencing women’s voices and is one meaningful to me, given that I’ve just spent five months in Europe soaking in all of the arts and culture it has to offer.

And from Our Storytime, a piece on inclusivity and how beautiful branding on Instagram fails to appreciate and stand up for diversity.

Finally, another one on art, this time in the most beautiful gallery of the British Museum. A lovely meditation on the fact that it’s never too late to begin.

I hope you enjoy these little thoughts, and I’ll see you next week for the next volume of Link Loves. You can also find some of my visual inspiration here.
