A New Year of Whimsical Adventure

Whimsical

The sun was shining brightly on New Year’s Eve when I took this photo. It was the afternoon, I was in my NYE party outfit, wearing a chiffon pleated skirt I fell head over heels in love with and gifted by my mum for Christmas just passed.

Standing in front of those white roses reminded me of those innocent times when I am simply appreciating the little things in life. Having found 2017 particularly difficult, mostly owing to my increasing feelings of being lost and tired, I want to get back to doing what I love, unapologetically. Although there were highs and lows, I want to remember 2017 as a year when I learned to live day by day and to give myself time to reset.

So, in 2018, I want to see every day as a new adventure. I want to fall back in love with myself, with my life, and with the world. I want to be that little bit bolder. I want to be that little bit more dreamy. Being whimsical to me is both being playful and being spontaneous.

And this first post of 2018 is slightly different to what I’ve been doing for the past year, because photography over the past year has become more than just a portfolio and more than just an amateur hobby. I want to tell stories with my photos. I know, a picture tells a thousand words and all, but I was reflecting on why I was so unmotivated to post, and I sort of stumbled on it by accident when I realised I missed writing a simple thought or two that came to my mind when I looked at a photo.

So here goes 2018! A new year of whimsical adventure…
